Development of the Surface of a Truncated Pyramid:

Procedure

(a)   Sketch the plan and elevation of the prism of Height H and side of base length L or like Right regular square pyramid, base 1, 2, 3, 4 and apex like 0.

(b)   It is cut through a horizontal cutting plane cutting the slant edges on a, b, c, d in plan and at a?, b?, c?, d? in such elevation.

(c) None of the line as 01, 02, 03 or 04 signifies the true length of the slant edge. Consequently, sketch any one line as 01 horizontal or like Parallel to XY and findout the true length 0? 1?₁. By a´ sketch a horizontal line and get the true length o´ a₁′ .

(d) Along with o like center and radius o´1₁´ or like true slant height sketch arc and mark 1, 2, 3, 4 and get the development of lateral surface of the pyramid.

 (e) Along with o like center and radius o′ a′ sketch an arc cutting 01, 02, 03, and 04 at A, B, C, and D respectively. Sketch line AB, BC, CD and DA and finish the development.
