Armature

The goal of the armature is to given the energy conversion within a DC machine .Within a DC generator, the armature is rotated through an external mechanical force, like as a steam turbine. This rotation induces a current and voltage flow in the armature. Therefore,    the armature converts mechanical energy to electrical energy.

With a DC motor, the armature receives voltage from an outside electrical source and converts electrical energy into mechanical energy in the form of torque.
