The Bamford-Stevens reaction is a chemical reaction wherein treatment of tosylhydrazones with strong base produces alkenes. It is named after British chemist William Randall Bamford and the Scottish chemist Thomas Stevens Stevens (1900-2000). The practice of aprotic solvents provides predominantly Z-alkenes, whereas protic solvent provides a mixture of E- and Z-alkenes.
