Vestibulocerebellum

The vestibulocerebellum corresponds to the flocculonodular lobe. It obtains input from the ipsilateral vestibular labyrinth through the vestibulocochlear (VIII) nerve, and plans directly to the vestibular nuclei. These bring around postural adjustments through the lateral and medial vestibulospinal tracts. The lesions of vestibulocerebellum in primates cause swaying and truncal ataxia. When the lesion is unilateral the head is tilted to the side of the injury and nystagmus is seen.
