Wire Drawing involves pulling the metal through a die by means of tensile force applied to the exit side of the die.

         A typical wire drawing operation is shown in fig. Wire drawing die has a conical shape. The end of the wire or rod is mad into a point shape and initially it is inserted through the die opening.

         This end is then gripped by dog gripping tool and is pulled with help of chain drive.
