The football boosters club had 80 T-shirts made to sell at football games. Through mid-October, they had only 12 left. What percent of the shirts had been sold?

Denote the number of T-shirts sold; 80 - 12 = 68. To ?nd out what percent of the original number of shirts 68 is, divide 68 by 80; 68 ÷ 80 = 0.85; 0.85 is equivalent to 85%. If you chose b, you found the percent of T-shirts in which were LEFT instead of the percent which had been SOLD.
