What is use case and use case diagram?

A use case is a coherent piece of functionality that a system can give by interacting with actors. Use case includes one or more actors as well as system itself. 

A system involves a set of use cases and a set of actors. The set of use cases shows the complete functionality of the system at some level it is known as use case diagram.
