Question:

A long straight portion of wire carries an increasing current due northward. Due east of as well as very near the straight wire at the same height as that of the straight wire is a stationary horizontal loop of wire. What is the direction of the current if whichever induced to flow in the loop?

Answer:

Seem at the straight wire by itself from the south. In this view toward the peak of the page is up toward the sky not northward.
