SEGMENTATION HARDWARE
An execution to map two-dimensional user-defined addresses into one-dimensional physical addresses. This mapping is affected by means of segment table. Every entry in the segment table has a segment limit and a segment base. The segment base contains the starting address wherever the segment resides in memory, while the segment limit specifies the length of the segment.
A logical address concise of two parts: an offset and a segment number,s into that segment, d The segment number is utilized as an index to the table. The offset d of the logical address ought to be between 0 and the segment limit. The segment table is basically an array of base-limit register pairs.
Explain Threads for Executing Concurrent Application Code The thread has been introduced in many operating systems as an efficient mechanism for executing concurrent applicatio
How can the index blocks be implemented in the indexed allocation scheme? The index block can be implemented as follows a. Multilevel scheme b. Linked scheme c. Combin
What is the hardware support required to implement paging? Each operating system has its own techniques for storing page tables. The majority allocates a page table for each pr
For example, by initializing a semaphore to 0, threads can wait for an event to occur, and impose an ordering constraint, similar to a monitor using condition variables, but with m
What is paging? Name the different paging techniques. Paging is a memory management method that permits the physical-address space of a process to be noncontiguous. Paging evad
Define FIFO Page Replacement Algorithm This policy simply eliminates pages in the order they arrived in the main memory. By using this policy we simply remove a page based upo
From hardware perspective, every information system can be divided into three task areas Presentation, Application Logic and Data Storage. The R/3 Basis software is extremely s
What is the main advantage of the layered approach to system design? As in all cases of modular design, designing an operating system in a modular way has several benefits. Th
