Q. What is Pre-requisites of counselling?
Pre-requisites of counselling are:
1. Facilities for counselling to be available for the patient near home or working place.
2. Good interpersonal relationship should be maintained between counselee and counsellor.
3. Counsellor should have required knowledge and skills.
4. Counsellee should trust the counsellor and counsellor to trust the counsellee.
5. Both should have enough time. They should not be in a hurry to leave.
6. Confidentiality should be maintained by the counsellor. But for the treatment purpose information can be shared with the doctor but with the consent of the counsellee.
7. Counsellor should accept the counselee as an individual.
