What is Phospholipids ?
Phospholipids : Phospholipids are similar to triglycerides, except that they contain only two fatty acid, and one or both of the fatty acids have a functional group containing phosphorus and/or nitrogen. They make up the major component of plasma membranes called the phospholipid bilayer. The phospholipids assemble themselves into tightly packed sheets of molecules with the hydrophobic tails pointing inward, away from the water. If any rip or tear in the barrier occurs, other molecules are able to move in and repair the problem.
Phospholipids are often combined with proteins and serve many important functions in cells.
