What is parsing?

Parsing is the process of analyzing a text, formed of a sequence of tokens, to find out its grammatical structure regarding a specified formal grammar. Parsing is also termed as syntactic analysis and parser is utilized for analyzing a text. The task of the parser is basically to determine if and how the input can be derived by the starting symbol of the grammar. The input is a valid input regarding a regarding formal grammar if this can be derived by the starting symbol of the grammar.
