Q. What is Mini computer?

The term minicomputer introduced in 1960's when it was realized that numerous computing tasks don't need an expensive modern mainframe computers however can be solved by a inexpensive, small computer.

Mini computers provide support for multi-user environment with CPU time being shared among many users. The main importance in such computer is on processing power and less for interaction. Most of the current day mini computers have proprietary CPU as well as operating system. Some general illustrations of a mini-computer are Digital VAX, IBM AS/400. The main use of a minicomputer is in data processing application concerning to companies/ departments.
