The operator of an amusement park game remain track of how many tries it took participants to win the game. The subsequent is the data from the ?rst ten people:
2, 6, 3, 4, 6, 2, 8, 4, 3, 5
What is the median number of tries it took these participants to win the game?

First, put the numbers in sequence from least to greatest, and then find out the middle of the set.

2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6

The middle is the average (mean) of the 5th and 6th data items. The mean of 4 and 4 is 4.
