Q. What is Interpolated Resolution?

Every Scanner is accompanied by a software. This software can raise the apparent resolution of scan by a scheme known as Interpolation.  By this schemeextra dots are interpolated (added) between existing dots. This provides a higher resolution and smoother picture however without adding any extra information.  The added dots will though lead to larger file sizes.
