What is attenuation, Physics

Assignment Help:

What is Attenuation?

Attenuation:

Attenuation is a reduction within the amplitude and intensity of a signal. This is a significant property into optical communications. This is a natural effect of signal transmission over long distances. This is sometimes termed as 'loss'. Loss or Attenuation in fibre is measured into units of decibels per unit length of medium (dB/ km).
