What is an algorithm? What are the characteristics of a good algorithm?
An algorithm is "a step-by-step process for accomplishing some task'' An algorithm can be given in many ways. For example, it can be written down in English (or French, or any other ''natural'' language). Though, we are interested in algorithms which have been precisely specified using an appropriate mathematical formalism--like as a programming language.
Each algorithm should have the following three characteristics:
1. Input: The algorithm should take zero or more input.
2. Output: The algorithm should produce one or more outputs.
3. Definiteness: Each and every step of algorithm should be described unambiguously.
a) Given a digraph G = (V,E), prove that if we add a constant k to the length of every arc coming out from the root node r, the shortest path tree remains the same. Do this by usin
This algorithm inputs number of hours of sunshine recorded every day for a week (7 days). Output is the highest value for hours of sunshine and average (mean) value for numbers of
1. For the ER diagram you created in assignment, the artefact of the conceptual database design, map the ER model into the relational model according to how it was designed in the
Write a function that performs the integer mod function. Given the previous functions you have implemented already, this one should be a piece of cake. This function will find the
Find a minimum cost spanning arborescence rooted at r for the digraph shown below, using the final algorithm shown in class. Please show your work, and also give a final diagram wh
Tree is dynamic data structures. Trees can expand & contract as the program executes and are implemented via pointers. A tree deallocates memory whereas an element is deleted.
Linear search employee an exhaustive method of verified each element in the array against a key value. Whereas a match is found, the search halts. Will sorting the array before uti
If a node having two children is deleted from a binary tree, it is replaced by?? Inorder successor
In this project you will write a program to produce a discrete time simulation of a queue as shown in Fig. 1. Time is slotted on the input and the output. Each input packet follows
In-order Traversal This process when executed iteratively also needs a stack and a Boolean to prevent the implementation from traversing any portion of a tree twice. The gener
