What is a chemical compound?

By definition, a compound is a substance in which two or more different elements have combined. There are millions of examples of compounds all around us. Some examples of compounds are salt, water, carbon dioxide, glucose, and starch.

A compound is formed when two or more different elements come together in a chemical reaction to form a new substance. For example, a water molecule is produced when two hydrogen atoms combine with one oxygen atom, forming a water molecule. So what is the difference between a compound and a molecule?
