A circuit contains of a 10 volt battery connected in series with a 4 ohm resistor and a 6 ohm resistor. Why is it complete nonsense to say that 4 volts goes through the 4 ohm resistor?
Answer:
What does go in a circuit is charge. Charge flows by a circuit. The flow rate of charge is called as current. Voltage exists Current flows. The declaration that current flows is jargon. Technically it is charge that flows as well as current is the charge flow rate. However the expression current flows has pervaded the field so it will not be avoided.
