Franchise - Legal arrangement whereby owner of a franchisor, trade name, contracts with a party who wants to use the name on a non-exclusive basis to sell services or goods, franchisee. Often franchise agreement grants strict supervisory powers to the franchisor over franchisee which, yet, is an independent business.
