Q. What is Alzheimer's disease?

The Alzheimer's disease is a degenerative disease of the central nervous system in which the patient has progressive dementia and alteration of mental functions.

The disease usually appears after 40 years of age and it is more frequent in the elderly. Image studies of the brain show broad loss of brain tissue (The Alzheimer's disease should not be confused with other mental deteriorations common in the elderly).
