What are the secondary roots? In origin how the secondary roots differentiate from shoots?

The Secondary roots are ramifications of the primary (major) root. The secondary roots come out from the pericycle, inner tissue of the root and the shoots originate from the lateral buds of the stem. Consequently the origin of the secondary roots is endogenous and the origin of the shoots is exogenous.
