Q. What are the principles of transport layer?

Transport layer: This layer is the first end-to-end layer. Header of transport layer includes information which helps send the message to corresponding layer at the destination node. Message is broken into packets and can travel through numerous intermediate nodes. This layer takes care of error control and flow control both at the destination and source for the entire message. Responsibilities of the transport layer are:

  • Flow Control
  • Host-to-host message delivery
  • Segmentation and reassembly
