What are the disadvantages of bespoke software, Computer Engineering

Assignment Help:

What are the disadvantages of Bespoke Software

-  Very dependent on suppliers of the software; if they go out of business there would be little or no support if problems occur

-  Less likely to be as well tested/developed as off-the-shelf software

-  Much more expensive as all the development costs need to be met by company (though efficiency savings may compensate for this and it may prove to be less expensive in long run)

-  Development time can be very long that may cause problems

-  difficult to tell how good the final software package would be (could be a real problem if company have waited 2 to3 years to receive their new software only to find it does not meet their requirements!!)
