What are the benefits of wireless devices

One benefit is that if everyone uses standard, everyone can talk to anyone. Another benefit is that extensive use of any standard will give it economies of scale, as with VLSI chips. A shortcoming is that political compromises needed to achieve standardization frequently lead to poor standards. Another difficulty is that once a standard has been widely adopted, it is kind of difficult to change, even if new and better techniques or methods or process are discovered. Also, by time it has been accepted, it can be obsolete.
