What are intrinsic and extrinsic semiconductors?

A semiconductor is a material that has an electrical conductivity among that of a conductor and an insulator. In a semiconductor, current can be getting by either the ?ow of electrons or by the ?ow of positively charged holes. Silicon is an instance of a semiconductor, and a semiconductor in the pure state is often known as intrinsic semiconductor. The conductivity of a semiconductor can be changed by adding other elements, which is called as doping and this type of semiconductors are called as extrinsic semiconductors.
