Q. What are some functions of the epithelium?

The epithelial tissues can perform protection, covering and impermeability against the environment, for instance, in the skin, resorption, as in the renal tubules and guts, gas exchange, for instance, the amphibian skin, thermal regulation, secretion of substances, like sweating, as in the epithelium of glands. In some animals the skin also has the important function of mimicry and camouflage.
