Uses of oils and fats

(a) Several oils and fats are used as food material.

(b) Oils and fats are employed for the manufacture of glycerol, fatty acids, soaps, candles, vegetable ghee, margarine, hair oils, etc.

(c) Oils such as linseed oil, tung oil, etc., are employed for the creation of paints, varnish, etc.

(d) Castor oil is utilized as purgative and codliver oil as a source of vitamins A and D. Almond oil is used in pharmacy. Olive oil is as well used as medicine.

(e) Oils are as well used as illuminants and lubricants.
