Ultrasound bolt load monitoring, Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:

Q. Ultrasound Bolt Load Monitoring?

Ultrasound measurement of bolt stresses, using ‘Bolt Scope', should be used on:

• All bolts tightened by tensioning.

• All bolts in hydrogen service.

• All bolts in hydrocarbon service with pressure rating Class 900 and above.

• Bolt sizes ¾ in (20 mm) and larger in critical service.

A minimum of 20% of the bolts shall be tested.

To ensure required accuracy and field efficiency, proper preparation of stud ends must be provided. Stud ends must be machined flat and parallel.
