Advantages and disadvantages of three phase system over single phase system
1. In a single phase circuit the power distributed is pulsating. In three-phase system the total power delivered is constant if the loads are balanced by the power of any one phase or circuit might be negative. So three-phase system is highly desirable mainly for power loads.
2. The rating of a given machine enhances with the increase in number of phases. For example the output of a three-phase motor is 1.5 times the output of a single-phase motor of the similar size.
3. Single-phase induction motors, have no initial torque and so its is essential to give these motors with an auxiliary means of starting, but in case of three phase motors except synchronous motors there is no requirement of providing an auxiliary means for starting.
4. Power factor of single- phase motor is lower than that of three phase motor of the similar rating (output and speed). The efficiency of a three- phase motor is also higher than that of a single- phase motor.
Q. Illustrate what is the dissimilarity between diffraction and interference? Answer:- Diffraction is the yielding of waves around an obstacle while interference is the me
Explain about the term pumping in laser. Pumping in laser is particular criteria to get laser output. It is same to pumping well water to the ground level or to an overhead tan
COLLISION: "When two or more bodies come close to each other, so that there is some part of interaction among them, with or without the presence of external force, we say tha
Define Eddy Currents ? If you try to pull a solid piece of some metals (good electrical conductors) quickly between the poles of a strong magnet, you will feel a force pushing
POSITIVE ACCELERATION: If velocity of a body is enhancing, then its acceleration is said to be positive. The direction of positive acceleration is similar as that of velocity.
Three inductive loads, each of resistance 4Ω and reactance 9Ω are linked in delta. When linked to a 3-phase supply the loads consume 1.2kW. Calculate (a) The power factor of
