The water will not run through the cloth

Choose a glass jar and a piece of cloth from an old sheet or handkerchief. Fill the jar with water. Wet the cloth well, stretch it over the mouth of the jar and fasten with a piece of string or thread. Invert the jar over a pail of water and view that the surface tension keeps the water from coming by the cloth.
