The formation of macro and micronuclei of daughter paramoeci, Biology

Assignment Help:
The formation of macro and micronuclei of daughter paramoeci:
  • Each exconjugant has a single micronucleus and four macronuclei.
  • This type of exconjugant divides twice and forms four daughter paramoecia.
  • Each daughter paramoecium receives one macronucleus from the exconjugants.
  • The single micronucleus of the exconjugant divides twice along with the exconjugant and each daughter paramoecium receives one micronucleus.
  • In this process only the micronucleus of the exconjugants undergoes mitotic division.
  • Macronucleus does not divide. They are distributed to daughter paramoecia from the exconjugants.
  • In this way from each exconjugant, four daughter paramoecia are formed resulting in 8 paramoecia.
