Structured analysis and structured design, Software Engineering

Assignment Help:

Differentiate between structured analysis and structured design.

The aim of structured analysis is to transform the textual explanation of a problem into a graphic model. During structured analysis, functional decomposition of the system takes place, i.e. every function that the system performs is analyzed and hierarchically decomposed into more detailed functions. On the other hand, during structured analysis all functions identified during structured analysis are mapped to a module structure. This module structures are also known as software architecture for the given problem and it can be directly executed using a conventional programming language. The purpose of structured analysis is to capture the detailed structure of the system as perceived by the user, while the purpose of structured design is to explain the structure of the solution that is suitable for execution in some programming language.
