Stress concentrations, Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:

Describe the test specimens that were used in the testing program, and what one hopes to learn by testing them. Show the "test matrix" (i.e. a listing of what specimens made of what materials under what test conditions) in a table in addition to describing it in the text.

Discuss the instrumentation of your test specimens with strain gages. Where were the strain gages placed, and why. The strain gage application procedures need not be described in detail. You may reference material from the Lab Manual and associated sources for this purpose. Note any deviations from the procedure described in this documentation. If you experienced any difficulties in the strain gaging operations, discuss the difficulties, their causes and consequences in the report.

Describe the equipment used (the Baldwin uniaxial testing machine, the MTS testing machine, strain gages and associated DAQ hardware, measuring tools, etc), explaining their basic operating principle, the capacity of the machine(s) and the sensitivity of measuring devices used.

Summarize the testing and data acquisition procedures (two to three paragraphs for the static test, one paragraph for fatigue testing).
