The Figure 1 below shows a section through a stairway for a garage in a new proposed dwelling. The stairway is 3 meters wide with 300 mm wide treads(7 treads) and 170 mm high risers(8 risers)The landing(1 landing) and the staircase waist thicknesses are 170 mm. A finishes of 20 mm thick screed will be provided. The characteristic strengths of the materials used are: = 20 MPa = 450 MPa for reinforcement. Use a 20 mm nominal cover to reinforcement and Y12 bars. 3.1 Use the relevant codes of practices to design suitable reinforcement for the stairway to resist the applied loads. 3.2 Design the shear links. 3.3 Check the deflection 3.4 Design the transverse reinforcement
