Q. Show the Multiple covalent bonds between electron pairs?
Ans.
Two atoms may share one electron pair, two electron pairs or three electron pairs. The bonds formed in this way are called a single bond, a double bond or a triple bond. The following diagram shows the electron dot structures for double and triple bonds:
A shared electron pair is also known as a bond pair. Other non-bonding electron pairs in the outermost shells are called lone pairs. The bond pairs and lone pairs can be shown as follows:
In any atom which sub-shell will have the highest energy in the following : (1) 3p (2) 3d (3) 4s (4) 3s Ans: 3d
