Q. Show the Coating Application?
Immediately following surface preparation, the cleaned pipe shall be uniformly preheated by a non-contaminating method to the application temperature recommended by the manufacturer, but not to exceed 525°F (275°C). Any pipe exceeding 525°F (275°C? shall become the property of the Applicator, and Applicator shall reimburse the OWNER for its total value.
Pipe shall be coated as soon as possible, within a maximum of 4 h of surface preparation. Oxidation of the pipe surface prior to coating, in the form of "blueing" or other apparent formation is not acceptable. If such oxidation occurs, the pipe shall be cooled to the ambient temperature and recleaned at no expense to OWNER.
The powdered epoxy shall be applied to the pipe surface by the electrostatic spray method at a sufficient rate to provide a uniform cured film thickness. Unless otherwise directed by the purchase order the applied film shall be a nominal 20 mil (0.51 mm) average thickness with 18 mil (0.46 mm) minimum thickness and a maximum thickness of 24 mil (0.61 mm). Pipe so rejected by the Company shall be stripped and recoated at no extra cost to OWNER. The coating shall be applied over the full length of pipe to within a maximum of 6" (152 mm) and a minimum of 2" (51 mm) from the ends of the pipe.
In the event that the specified coating thickness is inadequate to obtain less than the maximum allowable holidays per joint of pipe, the Applicator and OWNER shall evaluate the cause for the excessive holidays and determine if the thickness as specified should be altered.
Risks associated with identified hazards can be reduced to a reasonable level through the application of good design principles that are focused on integrating safety into the over
