Process Adjustment and Process Capability

Process adjustment

In the event of the process veering towards non-conformance as a result of variables which are not inherent to the process (assignable causes, see later), SPC can indicate the amount of the adjustment of the process required to re-establish control.

Process capability

In addition to providing real-time control of the process, the statistical analysis can provide an index which relates the inherent variability of the process output to the associated design tolerance band. The index number indicates the extent to which the process is capable of producing conforming output.
