Polythene terephthlate (melinex) capacitors, Physics

Assignment Help:

Melinex film can be interleaved with paper. The material is then silvered. It is the rolled to form capacitor. High voltage capacitors are sealed to avoid corona. These capacitors can withstand higher voltages but are temperature sensitive.

Specifications

Range of values                                                                            up to few μf

Operating voltages                                                                300 to 400 volts r.m.s

Power factor at 1 KHz                                                                      1.9% and 250C

Temperature coefficient                                                                     -8% to + 20% for

Of capacitance                                                                     -60 to + 1600C

Applications: These capacitors can work at higher voltage and can work at higher temperatures (1300C). But losses are more.
