Whereas we are on the subject of function evaluation we have to now talk about piecewise functions. Actually we've already seen an instance of a piecewise function even if we didn't call it a function (or a piecewise function) at the time. Remind the mathematical definition of absolute value.
It is a function and if we employ function notation we can write it as,
It is also an instance of a piecewise function. A piecewise function is a function which is broken into pieces & which piece you use based upon value of x. Thus, in the absolute value example we will employ the top piece if x is positive or zero and we will employ the bottom piece if x is -ve.
Now we will discuss as solving logarithmic equations, or equations along with logarithms in them. We will be looking at two particular types of equations here. In specific we will
y=x^2+2x-15
In this section we have to take a look at the third method for solving out systems of equations. For systems of two equations it is possibly a little more complex than the methods
(-9/8-8/9)- (-9/8-9)
convert 2543 to a decimal base 10 to binary base 2
would a slope of a quadratic function get narrower or wider if the slope is changed from 3 to 2.5?
These are the only possibilities for solving quadratic equations in standard form. However Note that if we begin with rational expression in the equation we might get different so
log10 (4x100)
change this radical to a algebraic expression with fractional exponnents 5 squar root x^3
How would you solve this equation: 13x + 7 (-3x-1) = -63
