Question
What is key function of packing resources in joint of concrete pipes in pipe jacking?
Answer
Packing resources are about 10 to 20mm broad and are usually made of plywood, fibreboard or previous materials. In case the packing materials are absent in pipe joints for pipe jacking, after that any deflection in joints reduces contact area of concrete and it leads to spalling of joints due to high pressures induced. With insertion of packing fabric inside pipe joints, the acceptable deflection without damaging joint throughout pipe jacking process is able to be increased.
