Optical resolution of scanner, Computer Engineering

Optical resolution or hardware resolution is mechanical limit on resolution of Scanner. For scanning the sensor has to advance after every line it scans. Smallness of this advancement step gives resolution of the Scanner. Characteristically Scanners may be available with mechanical resolutions of 300, 600, 1200 or 2400 dpi. A number of special scanners even scan at 10,000 dpi.
