Classification of the damage according to the type of structures
The level of damage in spatial trusses has also been classified into three different levels based on the type of structure:
One layered spatial structures
The numbers of one layered spatial trusses which have been damaged are just a few. Generally the damage has been noted to be cuts around the control bars that connect the roof to the beneath concrete structure. Examples of these types of damage are: one layered roof of three sport centers which were all constructed on concrete structures. One of these buildings was one class and the other two were two class buildings, and they were all drum type.
Geometry and the rigidity of the nodes is an effective factor in preserving the stability of the one layered spatial trusses.
Lopez and some of his colleagues have done some studies about the effect of the rigidity of nodes on space trusses handling capacity.
