Non-ketotic hyperosmolar diabetic coma, Biology

Assignment Help:

Non-Ketotic Hyperosmolar Diabetic Coma (NKHDC) is another acute complication of diabetes mellitus. In this condition, the coma (loss of consciousness) is developed due to high blood sugar levels and ketones are absent. NKHDC occurs in relative insulin deficiency i.e. Type 2 DM. Elderly Type 2 diabetic patients are usually affected by this condition. The risk of death is much higher in these cases than DKA.
