Necessity of Transmission System

  • The main purpose of Transmission system is to provide a means to vary the torque ratio between the engine and the road wheels. It means the wheel may not be able to run at engine speed every time. So the transmission system provides the required speed.
  • The transmission also provides a neutral position, so that the engine and the road wheels are disconnected even with the clutch in the engaged position, a position of idle run of engine.
