Measuring atmospheric pressure with a bicycle pump

A bicycle pump with the washer reversed as represents can be used to calculate atmospheric pres- sure. The piston can be made airtight by adding a little thick oil to the barrel. The area of cross section of the pump barrel can be measured or calculated with squared paper. The pressure of the air can then be measured in kg / cm2
