What is necessary to restore the Marshall wetland in Margibi County, Liberia? The Marshall wetland has several features , including mangrove swamp, which is being degraded in some parts due to cutting down of mangrove for fuelwood, human settlements, roads, etc. Additionally, climate change seems to be contributing to the loss of the mangrove through water regime fluctuation, temperature increases, among others. Moreover, the presence of invasive alien species (Cholemana Odorata) is threatening the survival of local, native species of the wetland ecosystem, which include the mangrove, savanna grass, pine, and shrubs. The restoration plan should include both the socio-cultural dimension and the scientific intervention needed to recovery the Marshall Wetland, including the following parameters of restored mangrove, wetland ecosystem.
