Define Management and Nutritional Intervention using MNA - Undernutrition?
A. For those categorized as well-nourished
They need only be reminded of the importance of continuing good dietary habits. The MNA assessment should be repeated to detect any changes in status.
B. Persons at risk of undernutrition
An MNA score between 17 and 24 indicates that the patient is at risk for malnutrition with a good prognosis, given early intervention. Thus, factors leading to under nutrition must be identified and strategies should be devised to treat those conditions. The MNA examination should be read ministered 3 to 6 months later to evaluate the success of intervention and to determine if the patient remains at risk of malnutrition.
