Maintenance of Water Bound Macadam Roads:

The maintenance of water bound macadam surface consists of :

  • filling potholes, ruts with additional material and adequately compacting.
  • removing corrugations by dragging.
  • repairing lavelled surface (in which loose aggregates appear on the road) by adding fresh binding material, watering and compacting.
  • restoring broken edges by fresh material.
  • renewal of surface (50-75 mm) once in 2-6 years depending upon traffic.
