Linearity, Basic Statistics

Assignment Help:

The weight in Kg for each person was matched to their intake of fat per day in Grams.  9 people were selected with the following results.

Weight (Xi)         Fat (Yi)

45                           4.5

54                           5.5

62                           6.0

75                           7.0

83                           8.5

92                           9.5

98                           10

110                         11

124                         12

YOU are the 10th observation.  Record your weight to the closest Kg as the X value and estimate your fat intake as 10% of this value.  I.E. if you weigh 76.2 Kg you would use 76 with a fat intake of 7.6 Grams.

Required:  (Show supporting computations and explain your decisions)

a. Is it reasonable to assume linearity?

b.  What is the estimated blue line?

c.  Is the model significant?

d. Is the independent variable significant?

e. Predict with 95% confidence, the fat, intake of a person weighing 100 Kg?

f. Discuss the required conditions.
